Travel + Leisure named Clermont a Top 15 lakefront community

We already knew we were someplace special. But really, we’re just getting started.

Last summer Clermont was named one of 15 Best Lake Towns in the U.S. by Travel + Leisure. The news was both exciting and surprising all at the same time. After all, T+L had Clermont in the same company as iconic lake towns like Wolfeboro, N.H. and South Lake Tahoe, Ca.

But we all can agree that Downtown Clermont has incredible potential. Community planning experts have told us that Downtown Clermont “has great bones.” We’re fortunate to have two miles of scenic Lake Minneola shoreline, the immensely popular South Lake Trail, and a charming historic district with unique shopping and dining establishments. We’re a a designated “Bicycle Friendly Community” and a “Runner Friendly Community.” We’re a Florida Trail Town since 2018 and have long been a Tree City USA. And on Feb. 1, 2022, we became a brand new Main Street America community.

Clermont Main Street is looking to add more experiences, events and fun things to do and see Downtown. We plan to develop events that celebrate our unique culture and history. We’re looking to engage the community through grassroots art and building projects. We see opportunities to cross-market great events and projects already happening in our churches, schools and nonprofits and to integrate those into the Downtown experience. We want to bring traveling exhibits Downtown and to curate speaker series events that appeal to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

We aspire to be THE BEST Lake Town in America. Downtown Clermont has the potential to realize all that and more.
